FOREST VERTEBRATES
AMPHIBIANS
In the Carpathian forests, we can meet several species of amphibians, such as: Yellow-bellied Toad (Bombina variegata), Alpine Newt (Ichthyosaura alpestris), Common Newt (Lissotriton vulgaris), Common Toad (Bufo bufo), Common Tree Frog (Hyla arborea), Fire Salamander (Salamandra salamandra), Common Frog (Rana temporaria). Most amphibian species overwinter buried in the ground, often under a pile of branches, under larger decaying trunks, and larger stones. Yellow-bellied toad, Carpathian newt, Common tree frog are strictly protected species, others are partially protected. Amphibians eat numerous invertebrates, including mosquito larvae and land slugs.

REPTILES
On the edges of the Carpathian forests, the presence of several species of reptiles is possible: Sand Lizard (Lacerta agilis), Viviparous Lizard (Zootoca vivipara), Slowworm (Anguis fragilis), Grass Snake (Natrix natrix), Common European Viper (Vipera berus). These species are thermophilic and are more often found in sunny, stony places, in thickets, in adjacent meadows and pastures. These species are partially protected, they play an important role in nature, hunting insects and small vertebrates, regulating their numbers.

BIRDS
In the forest area of our trail, it is possible to find species of birds such as: Great Tit (Parus major), Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus), Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalos caudatus), Marsh Tit (Poecile palustris), Nuthatch (Sitta europaea), Goldcrest (Regulus regulus), Black Woodpecker (Dryocopus martius), Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major), Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), Jay (Garrulus glandarius). These are wintering species in Poland. Species that migrate for the winter include Cuckoo (Cuculus canorus), Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata), Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos), Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus), Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita), Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix), Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus), Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs). All these species are strictly protected. The basic food for most of these birds are insects, while small invertebrates for birds of prey. A large number of them nest in hollows.
